Students arriving between 7:15 a.m. 7:50 a.m.must remain in the cafeteriauntil the first bell rings at 7:50 a.m. All students must go to their homeroom at this time. Students who remain in the building after 3:00 p.m. must be under the direct supervision of a faculty/staff member they may not remain unattended in classrooms, hallways, or any outside area on school grounds. Instructional days are scheduled with an academicfocus so that students and teachers are in school for unbroken periods of instruction time.
Beechwood is a private, non-profit school of 170 students in Kinder Prep through Eighth Grade. P.M. Kindergarten 11:50 a.m.-2:50 p.m. Heart of Ohio Family Health Center @ WYHS. Labor Day, Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, News Years Eve, New Years Day, Martin Luther King Day and Memorial Day are school holidays. While in the cafeteria, students are expected to follow behavior guidelines established by the staff. The Superintendent makes weather-related decisions regarding late openings and school closings. The Beechwood staff is supported by many volunteers from the community who contribute their time in a variety of ways. The cafeteria will also notify parents when a childs charges become a problem. Each student is assigned a computerized number to use in the cafeteria.
Each student is responsible for placing all trash into the containers provided.
Students are required to sit at their assigned table. Breaks are scheduled so that teachers and students have consecutive days off in the winter and spring. During the last two weeks of school, a student will not be able to receive a lunch without payment. Beechwood participates in the Federal School Lunch and Breakfast Program and offers free and reduced price meals based on a students financial need. Since 2017, school-year calendar options have been placed online to allow students, families, staff and the Pittsburgh community to vote on the option that they prefer.
Students in the classroom or hallway prior to 7:50 a.m. will be subject to disciplinary action. Eight (8) half-days/early dismissals are set aside for school and district-level professional development time. Beechwood School admits students of any race, color, national or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school.
The cost for the breakfast is $1.50. All students must exit the building and leave by 3:00 p.m. unless they are participating in a supervised activity. A staff-focused calendar is also developed and distributed prior to the end of the school year that includes employee pay dates.
Beechwood Elementary will not be responsible for students who choose to remain on campus after school or activities. Students may either pay for their lunch daily, or set up a pre-paid account in the cafeteria. Once voting closes, the calendar is presented to the Board of Directors for approval. The approved calendar is communicated with families and staff on the Districts website and in a mailing.

Staff and families also receive a 12-month flip calendar in the mail each August. Afternoon dismissal will begin at 2:50 p.m. and is staggered by grade level to ensure a safe dismissal for all.Students who are waiting on high school siblings must wait in their classrooms until 3:00 p.m. Students are to be picked up immediately following dismissal and immediately following any extracurricular activity.
